What a Fun Way to Spend Valentine's Day!

Tomorrow! Tomorrow is the Mission Tour! I have been waiting for ages! Transfers are next Wednesday! Can you believe it? I can't, I have really enjoyed this transfer, companion, district, zone, assignment and schedule! I would love to stay in Beehive House, but at the same time I want a new assignment (as long as it isn't Square). Sister Nyamdeleg and I would also love to stay with each other too! But we have 14 sisters going outbound and about seven going home, about 20-27 (I've heard the numbers vary between these two) new sisters.... What if I train?  I have no feeling on what the next transfer will be like, but I don't feel unprepared to train if I am asked... But if I don't, you wont hear me complain! 

I got my wonderful suitcase! It is was so funny, 

"Sister Glanzer, what did your parents send you?" 

"Sister Glanzer, are you going home?" 

"They just sent you a suit case? Was there anything in it?"

It is black, but that's okay! It rolls and that is all that matters! If it were pink, we would have an issue.

We took a tour in Beehive consisting of four cousins, two sets of brothers, from Blackfoot Idaho. Three of them return missionaries, and on is engaged. There is a joke that we like to use on the occasion about how the clerks would get to the second level in the Church Office... The clerks used a trampoline! They hardcore believed me! They truly did! And I laughed so hard at them, both Sister Nyamdeleg and I were worried that we had joked too much with them, but at the very end we were able to round it back together and had a good spirit filled mini testimony meeting. It was really good! 

My dear eldest sister, Katie, sent me a box and gave me a "heart attack!" She had chocolate in it of course, but she also had cut out hearts in it with different scriptures and quotes about love and such. So on Valentines Day, I decided to give others a "heart attack!" I just did mostly sisters and I would attack them with one of the hearts! I as I ran out, I thought that some of them would have been good to give to people on the square! And we did, to a couple roaming about. They enjoyed it! Then later in the apartment, Sister Skousen (who is going outbound to San Jose!) and I threw the chocolate, shouting  "HEART ATTACK!" What a fun way to spend Valentines Day, telling people about God's and Jesus' love for them!

Sunday night, we did our daily planning as usual, and have started to be more specific in planning. We planned on one hour of square to find a family from Virginia. So as we left TC the next day, and reviewed our plan. The very first people we talked to, two older men, were from Virginia. We were shocked and I had this huge open mouthed smile on my face, trying so hard not to laugh! No way! Well, the taller one was pretty aggressive in what he believed, going off about things that really had nothing to do with the conversation. Every time I tried to share something, they would cut me off... So i just got silent because I haven't developed the bold and interjecting skill quite yet, the other man was very attentive and had good thoughts, you can tell he was very used to his friend. It was a good contact over all.

I had a moment where I really was able to notice how much I have improved and grown, and how comfortable I am with sharing the Gospel now, and just how easy it was! It was just so nice! I am glad, but contacting by my individual self, still not very fond of it. That one still needs A LOT of improvement.

This is my last P-Day for the transfer as well. Who knows when my next P-Day will be!! Actually like 10 people do, but I'll know everything next Monday!

Crazy Cool Things in TC These Past Whiles!

Crazy cool things in TC these past whiles! So I have picked up HQ referrals that have been really elect people from the UK and Australia! We got an email from the one in Australia reading, "I got the Book of Mormon and I plan on reading it this weekend! Please tell me how I can become a Mormon." AHHHHH Okay! We actually talked to him on the phone again! We also taught him about the importance of prayer! But then call dropped... We have no idea why, so when I called back it went straight to voicemail. So the ending of our lesson was my message, the invitation and promised blessings. Great way to end, right? 

The people in the UK are also super prepared. They have done research into the church and sometimes I marvel at the extent that some people go. One of them is from Scotland, I was think, maybe I'll be sending it to Sister Michayla Hassing. I remembered that she is in Ireland! I even sent him to sisters! Super close. 

Today, I called a lady who her and her husband are looking for that community the church provides, they can't seem to find it out there in the east of the US. They are super prepared too because both of them want to meet together! I love to hear to their stories leading up to requesting the missionaries or the Book of Mormon. 

Today for p-day we had a district activity! But first, I dyed sister Nyamdeleg's hair!  I did a good job. It was pretty easy actually. 

The mission tour is taking FOREVER to get here! Ahh! But I don't dwell on it too much because then I'd get really antsy. 

I am still loving the Beehive house! I want to stay at least another transfer before I must bid it farewell for a time. We have had some interesting times in the Beehive House, but most frustrating is when members come in and are just... rude. They don't let us do our missionary duty! It is even more annoying when they have friends that aren't members that seem very interested in what we are saying. They don't really understand the difference between history and gospel. They won't see that we are preaching to let the spirit touch their hearts! Alas, there are also really good members that come through, and we just agree with them, "Yes, what he said is true. Yes, that gospel can change your life. Yes, God hears you!" But that doesn't always happen, but when it does, we jump for joy after the tour! 

I am really curious to see where the world is going with the emphasis that we are putting on finding the elect and trusting more and more in the local missionaries with those who aren't as willing to keep in touch with us. As well as the changes that have been made, and many other things that are happening. I can't wait to see the world in a year! God has many things in store for us. Many, many things! Just make sure that you are all doing your best to be your best!

The Missionary Daily Schedule Changed!

Guess what! The missionary daily schedule changed! Wow! That is amazing! They gave missionaries more decisions on when they do companionship study,  language study, daily planning, and even gave us more time on p-day and at the end of the day! That was big! Maybe pday wont be as stressful when we have to go shopping!

But we here on Temple Square, everything for us is scheduled down to a T because if we don't have order, it would be chaos! One reason they gave for this freedom to schedule was to prepare us for when we are off our missions! So we are adjusted to studying the scriptures at different hours of the day!

KEY INDICATORS! We are having lessons left and right on teaching center, then they take it away! I am a little crestfallen. It was odd to plan for the next day and only set goals for four of nine key indicators. Key indicators are keeping track of what we do and have and such.

But this was all announced in the World Wide Missionary Broadcast. It was interesting at first how they started it, but then I realized that few missionaries in the world have been to Temple Square and few in the Church Office Building.Saturday, I took a call in teaching center with this guy that wanted to know if there was church in his area, which there was. I gave him the address. He talked about how he would love to devote his life to preaching the 'word.' I told him about missionary work, invited him to church and such. Then we called him Monday. Wow. He is an elect kid. If he chooses to accept the Gospel, he would be a fantastic missionary. He said he went out teaching the word and got beat up.  We then told him about how missionaries teach in twos. He said when he is baptized he is going to come to Utah and do a mission with us in the summer! Ha! I told him that he can go out with the missionaries in his town if he really wanted to. It was great. It was a memorable phone call.I think I will always say, "I love my Zone Leaders." We were able to go on exchanges with them this week, and I was with Sister Almedia... Exchanges are always so good! I have never before in my whole life had someone ask me, "Why are you negative?" I was at a loss for words, ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I am? But don't worry, negative in the way of setting goals. I am not a negative Nancy, drowning in sorrows and bring the world down around me! I like low achievable goals, but after this exchange, setting just a little higher goals is good to make one stretch and grow. Still, I was taken aback when she said it. THIS JUST IN: THE ASSEMBLY HALL IS OPEN! it has been closed all January, and they said it wouldn't be reopened until February 17th! Best news of the day!Favorite Question of the Week: Are those real cows in the Temple? I'll leave it to you all to find out for yourself! Your Local Missionaries would love to help you know! Or your Mormon friends too!  What we do in the Temple isn't secret, it is sacred!That is the week! And I am still going strong!Sister Glanzer!

This Just In

This week, this week, this week... It snowed every day. But we don't have a ton of snow as it has melted bits here and there, so we don't have mountains of snow in the valley. Most of the few people we talked to are going to the Sun Dance Film Festival and or skiing. It must be a bid deal, because people from New Zealand and London know about it.

I will say that in Teaching Center, we've had a lot of success, making up for the lack of people on Square. But today, I find that some of the interesting TC stories happen on p-day, but this woman called wanting to know why the missionaries didn't come to her part of town anymore. After about seven minutes, I knew. She talked, without taking any stops for breath for me to be able to cut in and get to the point and give her the information to help her. This went on for 40 minutes. Actually, 35 minutes. I got a total of 5 minutes. I just didn't know how to get her to stop! Even when I said, "I really have to go now” (I really did!), she kept going! But, "Mormons are always polite, thank you for your time to listen." 

I went to the dentist twice this week! I drove on two different occasions. That was the most exciting thing that happened this week. 

Sad news, yet happy news! We don't have zone conference this transfer, but we do have a mission tour! This is when a general authority comes and speaks to us! I don't really know how it all works, but I'll find out!

During Relief Society, we were talking about some of the Historical events that led up to The Restoration. They asked for an American sister to explain the American Revolution, I love microphones and all the others weren't going for it. Once I got done, I asked, "Does that seem right? Is that good?" not to mention I happened to be patriotically dress that day, granted red, white and blue stands for a number of us sisters.

Instead of saying that we are dropping someone, we say that we are returning them to the Lord. I like that. Sounds a lot nicer. Our wonderful zone leaders, Sister O'Neil and Almedia, said that President Risenmay is stressing that we spend our time only with the elect, those who are truly progressing and are really committed. It was a fantastic zone meeting that day, inspiring and a call of repentance on our attention to square time. Some sisters are finding it harder to get those contacts. But no matter what, we should be talking to the people no matter how many other sisters have talked to them! 

I learned there is a second part to the story of Naaman! That the servant of Elisha was kind of greedy, and wanted Elisha to get paid for having rid the man of leprosy. So, even after Elisha said no to payment, he went and in some way was able to collect something for Naaman. And because of the servant’s greed, Elisha cursed him with the leprosy that Naaman had! Poor guy, but men of God, one should do well to follow their examples.

This family came, all decked out in winter gear, this girl just goes out on her own in the snow, and then her brother, who had a snow shovel was shoveling all over temple square. so funny!

The more I profess it the stronger I know it!

I love my new companion! Sister Nyamdeleg. Pretty easy actually. But as I said she is from Mongolia, which is between Russia and China. She is the youngest in her family also, and all of her older siblings served missions in Mongolia. But as I said, I love her so much. It is very easy to get along with her! Also, with how our new schedule is set up, we go home at 6:45, have dinner and companionship study in the evening. So we get to enjoy our apartment more! In the Brigham Apartments, they have two bathrooms! One all to ourselves! 

Sister Nyamdeleg has never served in the Beehive House before so I guess in some way I am training her! It is kind of scary, as I have to make sure I am accurate with my facts, because she may not have gotten that far in the site guide yet!

Sister Fouti-Makaya has a bum knee, so she has been using a wheelchair, and today she got a cane, but in Walmart she got to use one of those carts! We went with her and Sister Skouson to Walmart and CHINATOWN! Finally! Any who, it has been kind of take care of her, I felt like a bit of chauffeur with the van today, pulling up the curb to get her or dropping her off. She is a good sport with it all. And with my long golden hair, we sang the Flower song from the movie Tangled to help heal her. 

Something fun this transfer is that our district is just four sisters and we are all in the same apartment! District Activity every day!

So since there is still not too many people on the Square, we roam, pre-planned, from building to building to find people to talk to. The morning it is especially hard to find people and everyone has been talked to by at least two other companionships, so they can get kind of snippy at us. Oh well! They say it takes seven times before someone accepts! They get their seven times in one hour! 

In Teaching Center, Sister Nyamdeleg was texting someone who lives in SLC, but they speak Mongolian, whose husband got baptized! Very exciting! I had a really good new investigator from the phone.

Speaking of good finds, if you remember back to Clifford, well it turns out that a referral for him was put in the system twice, so two separate sisters here at Temple Square sent him to Sister Nyamdeleg and her companion, and it turns out he wasn't too committed with them, as he was with us separate sisters here! Crazy.

Fun Fact: On Brigham Young's Property there was an orchard. The protector of the orchard was an eagle! Clarissa, his daughter that kept a really good journal, called him Baldy. What a practical name for an eagle!

My new zone is 17 sisters, so we get to serve in Beehive House five times a week! Twice in one day! That is the day the other Beehive Zone has p-day! An excellent time to learn more Church History! Maybe try to read The Book of Mormon in a different language! The paragraph that gives the overview of 1st Nephi, I can tell you what it says!

For sacrament meeting we meet at 7:30 am in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. That is all we do church wise for Sunday because the Square opens at 9 am! The brethren that bless and pass the sacrament are three elders that serve here on Temple Square and the others are from the surrounding areas.

I ALMOST FORGOT! Sunday Quintin L. Cook attended our sacrament meeting! He and his wife attended because their schedule for the day didn’t allow them to attend their ward or a later time, how special is that! The new sisters thought we get an apostle every Sunday! Sillies.

As well as on our way from the DA garage, we saw Elder Russell M. Nelson turn right up the hill we just came down from, as we waited to cross! Like right there! That was pretty cool too! We wave to each other.
